Nature of Work:

Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of a building or a company. Part of their work is to patrol, guard, and check anyone who will enter the building.

Basic Tasks:

• Secure the place or the building from any act of emergency or violence.
• Patrol the place and observe each person who will enter the building.
• Check the belongings of any person who will enter the building/place.
• Monitor the place, check unnecessary actions.
• Report any act of suspicious observations tom local police.
• Call police or fir departments in case of emergency.
• Encode the names of the entire person who will enter in the log book.
• Make daily routine inside the building.
• Check each office, close the lights and lock all possible entrance.
• Protect all the people inside the building from any violence and emergencies.

Education and Training Requirements:

• At least college level or most preferably graduate.
• Must have taken and Passed Security Guard training.
• Must have at least 3-5 years experience as a Security Guard.

Skills and competency Requirements:

• Must have wide knowledge and ability in securing a building or a place.
• Must be at least 5’7” in height and has a strong structure.
• Must have the ability to protect and serve.
• Ca easily detect suspicious things or actions.
• Knowledge in using firearms and other security equipments.
• Ability to do roaming around even at night.
• Can do shifting schedules.
• Must have wide knowledge on first-aid.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be polite and courteous.

Work environment:

Security guards are expected to work always on their best, they can’t be lazy or tardy since they have to be alert at all times. The whole vicinity serves as the office of the security guard since they have to roam around from time to time. Work Hours:

Security guards work in shifting schedules; they work for 8-10 hours a day.

Career Advancement:

Security guards have no definite promotion, the only advancement they can have is seniority and higher compensation.
