The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is serious to tract illegal recruiters to end their bad endeavors. Just last week, POEA have terminated the licenses of two recruitment agencies due to excessive collection of placement fees in violation of the POEA rules and regulations.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) raised the crisis alert level in Sudan to 3 calling for OFW deployment ban. The DFA also announced that they would assist in the repatriation of willing OFWs in Sudan.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently announced that President Noynoy Aquino approved its appeal to lower the alert level in Libya from 4 to 2. Alert level 4 means that evacuation or mandatory repatriation is necessary while phase 2 is the restriction phase.

POEA said that OFWs should take care of their OEC’s as soon as they arrive in the Philippines. Apparently, many OFWs rush to the POEA office to get exit clearances after Christmas or New Year resulting to large crowds and long lines.

The POEA alerted the Bureau of Immigration about this new scheme and apparently there were workers who were already caught at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Authorities detained the said workers after discovering that thy have (2) working visas – one for Tunisia and the other for Libya.
