During President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s visit in Italy, she asked the Italian government for additional benefits for overseas Filipino working there, which includes the legalization of overstaying OFWs, automatic conversion of driver’s license and expanded social security benefits.

A report from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Tel-Aviv to the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said that the monthly minimum wage of foreign workers, including Filipinos, in Israel has raised from 3,335.18 NIS (P39,141.21) to 3,456.58 NIS (P40,568.04).
