To inform many Filipinos about the reality and dangers of human trafficking, the POEA is set to conduct pre-employment orientation seminars or PEOS about it in ten (10) Philippine provinces where there are many reported cases of illegal recruitment. Some of the provinces where anti-trafficking seminars will be held are Isabela, Quirino, Batangas, and Pampanga.

In the survey question, “Are You Happy or Satisfied with Your Current Work Abroad,” 68% of the respondents answered “No” which shows that only 32% of them are happy or satisfied with their current overseas post. The said survey was conducted from November 10, 2012 to January 25, 2013. It also appeared in the Facebook page of WorkAbroad.ph

An agency that recruits Filipino workers to Canada, Nanhaya International Recruitment, Inc. loses its license for allegedly violating laws on Philippine overseas employment. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) also bans Go West International, its partner placement agency in Canada from recruiting workers from the Philippines.

The Secretary of the Labor Department, Rosalinda Baldoz, lauds the move of Singapore and cited a report from the Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies for Singapore, Inc., which states that this new development complies with the HSW reform package which sets USD400 as the monthly minimum salary for Filipino HSWs.

Eight (8) foreign employers are no longer allowed to hire workers from the Philippines as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) formally disqualified them from participating in the overseas employment program of the country. The employers are banned because of failure to comply with the Philippine laws on overseas employment, grave misconduct and gross violations of Philippine laws on overseas employment.
