The rest days of workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) would now be Friday and Saturday. This is after the decision of the Saudi government to move the previous Thursday–Friday weekend to Friday and Saturday.

“Migrant workers respect the laws and culture of their host countries. Their contribution to the economy of—and their socio-cultural assimilation and integration to—the host countries help strengthen the foundation of global peace, security, and prosperity. Therefore, they deserve humane treatment and equal protection. This is the pathway for diaspora and development to serve as a bridge between societies and states,” she added.

The Labor Department reported that the Philippines has a new office in Taipei and it will house units of Philippine government offices. Labor Secretary, Baldoz said that the new PHL labor office in Taiwan now houses DOLE, OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration), SSS (Social Security System) and Pag-IBIG Fund.

This development is part of the effort of the government of Japan to increase their visitors from the Southeast Asian region. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement to benefit Filipino household service workers or domestic helpers who will work in KSA. Under the new pact, Filipinos who will work as domestic helpers need not to pay placement fees and any recruitment cost.
