There is no reason for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in United Arab Emirates (UAE) to worry that Friday the 13^th of this month will be an unlucky day.

                      

For on that day (June 13, 2008), free long distance calls to the Philippines will be given to low-income and unskilled OFWs in Dubai and northern regions of UAE. Starting at 11 a.m. they can enjoy free calls at Al Nasr Leisureland.

 

This is part of Dubai’s commemoration of the 110th Philippine Independence Day. The free calls are courtesy of one of the event’s major sponsor du. Their generosity expects to benefit more or less 4,000 Filipino expatriates.

Aside from the free calls, the chairman of the organizing committee in Dubai and Northern Emirates, Art Los Baños, informed that a Job Fair will also be held that day.

The job fair aims to help OFWs in UAE find jobs or look for a new employer. Los Baños advised jobseekers to bring resumes.

 

There will also be entertainment for attendees as sponsor Orbit and Western Union made it possible for performers Gian Magdangal and Teri Onor to be there. Filipino models in Dubai will also take part in a mini-fashion show. Everyone is also invited to participate in the Palarong Pinoy and ballroom dancing competition.

 

A mini bazaar where Philippine real estate copnaies, money remittance centers in the UAE, and Roshan Construction LLC, a leader in turnkey industrial construction of all kinds of pre-engineered steel buildings in Dubai are expected to participate.
