Complaints against the alleged extortion activities of some immigration officers on Korean nationals resulted in the suspension on the processing of visa applications of overseas Filipino workers bound to Korea.

The suspension issued by the Korean embassy in Manila started last July 16, as the embassy’s response for the Philippine government’s inaction to its complaints about the alleged extortion activities of Koreans in the Philippines.

 This news would affect about 200 Filipino workers, typically seamen and entertainers, which flock the Korean embassy daily to apply for a working visa.

A possible lifting of the suspension of accepting the visa applications, reportedly, would depend on the action of the government on the complaints.
