Five Agencies Closed Due to Illegal Recruitment
Blessy Feliciano, Feb 20, 2004
Five more recruitment agencies were padlocked in January 2004 due to illegal recruitment. The closure operations are the result of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration's (POEA) continuous and intensified campaign against illegal recruiters.
Closure Orders were implemented against the office of Divina Pabellano at the Trade Center Building in Pasay City, Topmake/Roman Travel and Consultancy Service and MGD International Manpower Services both located in Ermita, World Flight Travel and Tours, and My Sec, a training center recruiting teachers for China located in Pasong Tamo, Makati.
Covert surveillance operations conducted by the Anti-Illegal Recruitment Branch (AIRB) established that said agencies were illegally recruiting workers for jobs abroad without the required license from the Administration.
“We are encouraging everyone to help us in this fight by reporting suspected illegal recruitment activities at the POEA 24-hour hotlines at 722-1144 and 722-1155,” POEA Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said.
