The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait and the Blas F. Ople Policy Center cautioned Filipino workers about a white slavery gang operating in the said country. The warning is especially addressed to women workers who unless warned and properly informed might become a victim of gang rape.

The white slavery gang convinces unsuspecting domestic helpers to transfer to a new employer. The poor domestic helper, attracted with the promise of a higher salary leaves present employer only to find out that everything is a big fraud, and there is no job waiting for her. Their operation have already victimized more or less 25 OFWs. Bangladeshi nationals together with their Filipina live-in partners supposedly run the gang.

One victim, a 17-year old domestic helper is now being treated at a hospital in Kuwait, while others are under the protection of the Philippine Embassy and the Labor Attaché office. The Blas F. Ople Policy Center said to the Philippine Embassy that they are willing to help the 17-year old victim.

The president of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center, Susan Ople, said  “To minimize risks to their safety, we would like to remind our workers to always make sure that they are dealing with legitimate and reputable recruitment agencies.”
