Qatar Needs Filipino Workers

Qatar is one of the most popular destination for newly hired overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). There are about 20,000 Filipinos working in Qatar in 2005 based on Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s (POEA) statistics.

Due to the booming industry of construction in Qatar, particularly hotels and restaurants, many OFWs are expected to be hired and be given a chance to work here. The country needs building and construction engineers, architects, and construction workers.

The marketing plan of POEA for the year 2006 to 2008 in the Middle East shows that Qatar will also be needing about 19, 500 information and communication technologist.

Qatar will be hosting the 15^th Asian Games this coming December, thus the country is expected to hire more workers in retail, transportation and service sectors especially in restaurants and hotels.
