POEA Cancels Licenses of 15 Recruitment Agencies

  Dec 12, 2003

Due to grave offenses, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) cancels the operation licenses of 15 landbased recruitment agencies sending Filipino manpower abroad.

In a memorandum for Secretary Patricia A. Sto. Tomas of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), POEA Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said that pursuant to the implementation of the 2002 Rules and Regulations Governing the Recruitment and Employment of Landbased Workers, the licenses of 15 recruitment agencies have been cancelled.

The penalty of cancellation of license has been imposed against the following agencies: AIMS World Management Corporation, BAPP’S International Manpower Inc., Bloomingfield Manpower & General Services, Darwin Manpower International Services, Expedition International Placement Phils., Humanlink Services & Placement Agency, Integrity Placement Inc., MEI Placement International, Philca Manpower and Placement Agency, Philcon Employment Agency, RF Horizon Agency, Sambarr Employment Agency, Sandawa International Placement Agency, Y2K Employment Agency Inc., and Zion Express Placement.

As a consequence of the cancellation, the names of the owners, officers and directors of these agencies have been included in the POEA list of persons with derogatory records and are disqualified from being re-employed by another recruitment agency or being issued a new license.

“The public is also warned against transacting with these recruitment agencies since, with the cancellation of their licenses, they as not allowed to recruit and deploy overseas workers anymore. Jobseekers are also encouraged to report illegal recruitment activities to the POEA at these hotlines: 722-1144 and 722-1155, ” Administrator Baldoz added.
