According to an announcement posted at POEA’s website (www.poea.gov.ph) , the fake POEA website(www.poea.com.ph) was created by “some unscrupulous persons.. and used the name of POEA for financial gain through ads generated in the website”.

This POEA website wannabe basically has just one page showing a list of sponsored links where viewers can find different jobs all over the world. The difference, however, is that these sites are open to nationalities, not just for Filipinos.

The “real” POEA website, on the other hand, has many sub-pages and directories. It has tips, statistics, a “services” section, and news. This website is also regularly updated.

Internet viewers who want to visit POEA’s website fall prey to this tactic because of a very small, almost unnoticeable, difference between the two website URLs: one ends with .com.ph  while the other with .gov.ph).
