A career in finance can be an appealing choice for many people looking to start out or switch careers. For OFWs there are many potential opportunities across different countries to work in the financial industry, even starting out from home. In order to boost your chances of securing a position or achieving success working in finance from home, there are a few steps you can take that should help best prepare you for what can be a ruthless yet rewarding role.
Study or Intern
There are a wide range of financial degrees out there that can be studied at university or even online in some cases. Depending on what type of financial career you have in mind, this could vary from something that works as a good base such as a maths degree or financial management, to more specialised options including macroeconomics or statistics. While studying, or if you already have a degree, doing work experience and/or securing an internship within the financial field you wish to work in will be beneficial too.
Practise Trading

Once you feel like you’ve increased your knowledge then practising trading is a great way to put it to the test. Many brokers off demo or practice accounts where you can begin trading without putting any of your own money at risk. When you feel confident, starting to trade for real you be the beginning of you career, or at least demonstrate to future employers that you have an interest and experience.

Constantly being up to date with all the news going on in the financial markets is essential. Not only will it help you grow your knowledge and understand how the markets work better, you should also be able to demonstrate that you’re on the ball in any interview. Create a Financial Blog
Even better than just reading the financial news is running your own dedicated finance blog. This requires keeping on top of developments and is a great asset to show to any potential employers. You can focus on a specific area you’re interested in or keep it broad and your options open.
