OFWs exemption on airport terminal fees to start March 2017
Dec 1, 2016
Good news! Overseas Filipino workers will no longer have to pay the P550 airport terminal fees starting next year.
Manila International Airport Authority manager Ed Monreal announced this in a forum held at the Manila Hotel. He also said they are working on technical details and coordinating with the international airlines to totally eliminate the airport terminal fee imposed on OFWs last February 2015.
OFWs are required to pay the P550 airport terminal fee when they buy tickets online or in airline ticket offices which is refundable. They can claim the refund upon departure at the airport terminals. However, many OFWs failed to claim their refund since they are busy people and thinks it's a waste of time to do so.
Airport terminal fee total collections has reached a billion pesos already, but half of the amount remained unclaimed by OFWs.
Monreal said OFWs can still claim the refund on their arport terminal fees even if years had passed, as long as they stil have the E-ticket. boarding pass and passports used.
OFWs aiport terminal fees will be eliminated starting March, 2017.
