10 Things OFWs Should Not Do in Kuwait

Overseas Filipino workers in Kuwait should remember these don’ts while in the country to avoid imprisonment or deportation. Do not: Criticize the Emir or prince, the ruling family, police or government officials in writing or verbally. Try to convert or share your religion with others, or preach them in public, especially if you’re not a muslim. Engage in homosexual relationships, adultery and prostitution. If you’re a couple, be sure that you are legally married before coming to Kuwait. Disrespect local traditions, customs, laws and religions. Forget your passport and iqama or residence permit when going out. It should be carried at all times.
Carry and use illegal drugs. Even the possession of small amount can lead to arrest and imprisonment.
Finger-point at someone, or exhibit the hand-gesture for ‘ok’. It is disrespectful and symbolizes evil.
Import and consume pork products.
Keep pornogrpahic materials.
Take pictures of government buildings, military or industrial sites, even oil fields and of other people without permission.
As an expatriate, OFWs are expected to comply with these rules and other laws governing Kuwait.
