Jun 4, 2015
Another OFW’s life has been spared to death. Just recently, a Filipino who was sentenced with death penalty in Doha, Qatar was reduced to life imprisonment after an appeal while two other Filipinos who was convicted of life imprisonment was lowered to 15 years instead.
These three OFWs, one working as a supervisor in Qatar Petroleum and the other two working for Qatar Air Force, were convicted last year of espionage and passing on Qatar military and economic secrets to the Philippine government.
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfred C. Santos said that the reduction in sentences was welcome but they will take every legal measure to make further appeals.
