Fake Job offers for OFWs in Libya as Nurses for Malta
Apr 21, 2015
Overseas Filipino workers or OFWs in Libya are in dilemma whether to return to the Philippines or stay in the war-torn country as there is no clear promise of stable job back home. With this, some OFWs are offered with jobs in other neighboring countries. But the situation is also taken advantage by others. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announces that there is no approved job orders for nurses in Malta. This is amidst report from the Philippine Embassy in Rome wherein a placement agency in Malta is offering Filipino nurses in Libya jobs in the medical sector in Europe.
Though the agency, Mr. Cleaning Contractor Services (MCCS) is licensed and legitimate, there is no approved job orders for Filipino nurses in Malta processed by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Rome. It is also reported that the agency’s representative in Libya is collecting fees from the applicants.
DOLE warns OFWs to check, whether by email or phone, if any job order is legitimate.
