OFWs Warned Against Pyramiding Scam in Kuwait
Apr 1, 2015
Overseas Filipino workers or OFWs are working hard abroad to earn and be able to give a bright future for their beloved family. Yes, it is right to invest on something in a hope that the money would grow. But where to invest the hard-earned money should be carefully checked. OFWs are cautioned about a pyramiding scam that is spreading in Kuwait. The said scam is allegedly operated by individuals who are both in the Philippines and Kuwait. It seems that its targets are OFWs and the Filipino communities. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, after receiving numerous reports about the scam, they’ve already issued an advisory for all Filipinos in Kuwait.
DFA advised OFWs to thoroughly do a background check and research on any business or person before investing. OFWs can also verify such organization with concerned Philippine government agencies for the legality of transactions they’re making. This step is necessary to protect the money OFWs had worked hard to earn.
OFWs should be wise to avoid being a victim of different scams targeting them.
