Surely, illegal recruiters find different ways and techniques just to prey on innocent victims who wants to work abroad.

One illegal recruiter even pose as an engineer and a sister of a tv station’s reporter.

Identifying herself as Engineer Marie Consulta and sister of John Consulta, GMA’s reporter, the illegal recruiter had managed to swindle 11 victims from Naga and Iriga cities in Bicol region.

Engr. Consulta, who claimed had worked in Canada, is said to be in the country and scouting applicants for an oil and gas company. She managed to collect P3,000 from each victim but disappeared afterwards. Only after her disappearance it is found that all the documents and plane tickets she had presented were fakes.

GMA’s reporter John Consulta denied knowing Engr. Consulta, stating that he has no sister and no relative engaged in the labor recruitment.

The authorities are now looking for Engr. Consulta, reminding aspiring OFWs to be extra careful in dealing transactions with recruiters offering overseas jobs.
