How to Get A Job In Canada – Direct Hiring
Audrey, Jul 28, 2014
Canada is one of the most sought-after countries for OFWs. Why? Simply because it is another greener pasture where Filipinos find it easier to acquire a working visa than in other countries like the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Japan and other rich countries. Besides, there are no undocumented Filipinos (or TnTs) in Canada because the Canadian government love their immigrant workers the way they love their citizens.
Finding a job in Canada is like finding a local job. To increase your chance of getting hired, you must choose jobs under the skilled and low-skilled category because they are the most available vacancies. Remember that Canada hires foreign workers only if they find no citizens to fill those jobs. But if you've heard of LMO or Labor Market Opinion, that's the time an employer can hire foreign workers in Canada. Being one of the many reasons for working abroad, higher salaries and compensations that awaits anyone who will work in Canada is what most OFWs are after for.
So how could you get a job successfully? First thing to do is to find an employer in Canada. There are employers who are advertising or posting job vacancies online, or through agencies in job websites, But of course you also have to remember to apply only to trusted job websites. Once you found an employer, they will process LMO and other couments needed for your employment.
If you have a relative or a friend already in Canada, they could refer you for employers given that you are qualified for the position they are hiring. The more employer you can find, of course the more chances of you getting hired.
There are also people who conduct direct hiring in the Philippines. They usually schedule orientations about the job offers in Canada. They are working for Canadian employers who wants to directly hire OFWs. Though they do the same steps as local agencies, there's not much compertition to them in the number of applicants than those in agencies. And they also assist applicants in processing their documents at he Canadian embassy.
Effective last April 2014, the Embassy of Canada will only accept visa applications submitted either online or through one of ther visa application centres (VACs) in the country. These VACs are established to answer questions in local languages and make sure that applications are complete. Processing time for temporary work permit applications may take eight months or longer, based on a complete application package.
