DOLE Probes Unlicensed Recruiter Promising Deployment to Australia
Jul 2, 2014
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is now investigating an unlicensed recruiter allegedly promising to spend prospective OFWs to Australia.
Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz ordered the investigation following a complaint from the father of a female OFW planning to work there as a nurse.
She referred the complaint to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration's Legal Assistance Division for investigation.
Baldoz said that the father of Pinay worker claimed the company, identified as Philippine Management Inc.
Philippine Management Inc. is not on the list of overseas recruitment agencies licensed with the POEA, DOLE said.
The agency also noted that there is a website, claiming to be formerly “Armstrong Canada.”
Philippine Management's experience consists of customers from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and USA. The site claimed the company is a “consultancy and advisory firm providing service on various areas relative to Philippine Transaction or business matters of foreign entities.
DOLE is verifying the would-be OFWs father's claims that Phil. Management Inc. was formerly Canadian Consultancy, Inc., with offices at the Philippine Stock Exchange Building in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
Baldoz advised Pinoy nurses to be wary of scams claiming to recruit nurses to work there.
