How much does it cost to be name-hired or GPB-hired?
Mar 26, 2014
There are costs that must be shouldered and paid for when seeking an overseas job. Usually, since applicants reach out to recruitment agencies for assistance in finding a foreign employer, they are spending money for placement fee and document processing while the employer shoulders the visa cost, airfare, POEA, OWWA and Insurance coverage.
But Filipinos can also seek jobs abroad on their own or with the help of POEA. That is in the form of name-hire or becoming a GPB-hire.
As a name-hire, the applicant was able to find an overseas job without any involvement with a recruitment agency, while as a GPB-hire (Government Placement Branch), an applicant was able to find a job through job postings from government institutions (like what POEA does in their website).
If applicants incur the cost of document processing and placement fee when dealing with a recruitment agency, how much do they spend when they apply for a job abroad as a name-hire or GPB-hire?
As a name-hire, the applicant shoulders the following costs:
- POEA fee: USD 100.00
- OWWA Membership Contribution: USD 25.00 per contract not exceeding two years
- PhilHealth Contribution: Php 1,200 per year
- PAG-IBIG Contribution: Php 100
- Insurance coverage (optional): As prescribed by the Insurance Commission
- documentation processing (passport, NBI/police clearance, etc. )
Meanwhile, as a GPB-hire:
- PhP100.00 Processing Fee (per worker)
- PhP1,275.00 OWWA Membership Fee (per worker)
- PhP900.00 PhilHealth/Medicare Coverage (per worker)
- Visa Fee
- documentation processing (passport, NBI/police clearance, etc. )
Are there placement fees? According to the Pathway to Safe Migration Manual by POEA, no placement fee should be collected to the applicant if he was able to secure a job as a name-hire or has applied through a POEA-GPB job vacancy.
