Why You Would Want to Work and Live in Dubai as an OFW
Mar 7, 2014
Dubai, just so you know, is one of the famous business capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). You'd like it to work and live here, or so they say, because of a lot of things that you can get here that your own country cannot sufficiently provide.
We can't deny it, this city is a top destination for Overseas Filipino workers or OFWs. But why? What is it the Dubai have that Manila or the entire Philippines don't?
Weather
If you are from a Western Country where snow and freezing water exist, you will very much appreciate the sunny weather in Dubai come May to December. Beach-bods populate Dubai's beaches because of this. Easterners like the Filipinos, may feel at home, too, as the weather is similar to their home country, only a bit hotter.
Tax-free Salaries
If you are working in Dubai, your salary is not subjected to tax. This entices a lot of people to work here as taxation requirements are lax in this city. Even taxes in purchased products are low, making it easy for not-too-rich people afford to buy luxuries or get housekeepers.
Abundance of Opportunities
Dubai's economy progresses, and because of this, entrepreneurs and employees alike "mob" the city for stable and freshly-launched job opportunities in the region. In fact, there are free-trade zones in Dubai, where good, services and expertise can be owned and sold by foreign businessmen without worrying about tax charges.
Diversity
Dubai is tolerant to various faiths and denominations compared to other Arab countries. Evangelisation is not tolerated, though. Because of the stuff that Dubai can offer, Western and Eastern people alike can live together in this city.
Educational Facilities for Children
Dubai boasts a huge list of educational institutions. Everything you want to know about the schools subject offerings, annual fees, teaching method and curriculum can be seen on each school's website. So, if you plan to migrate with the family in Dubai, there are a lot of options to choose from for the kids to attend school. In fact, there is a school for Filipinos in Dubai, The Philippine School.
Extras
Dubai is a place of events and activities. Because of diversed nationalitites living or vacationing in the city, festivals and sports events are often held. Sports events such as Tennis, Golf, Horse Racing and Rugby are well-loved. Theater and Art exhibitions, too are well-attended.
Undoubtedly, Dubai is a leader in great buildings and construction. The State government invests much in this, as they believe that this will help boost the city's economy.
Dubai can also be a haven for shop-a-holics, ya'know. Dubai have great shopping malls that offer a lot of products, clothes, shoes, houseware, food, you name it; they have it there.
This are just some of the most common reasons why one would choose to work in Dubai. As the city progresses, lifestyle changes, too. So expect that there are some things that set back an expat, OFW and aspiring foreign worker to work and live in this city, but that will be discussed on another article. Just you wait.
