ILO, Saudi Signs Minimum Age Requirement for Workers

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reached and signed the International Labor Organization's COnvention on the basic minimum age for a worker.
Under the Convention, children 15 years old below are not allowed to work and must finish compulsory schooling.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Adel bin Mohammed Faqih, Minister of Labor, and Guy Ryder, Director General of the International Labor Organization.
The Convention concerning Minimum Age for Admission to Employment, is an Convention adopted in 1973 by the International Labor Organization.
It requires ratifying states to pursue a national policy designed to ensure the effective abolition of child labor and to raise progressively the minimum age for admission to employment or work.

Depending on the economic status of each country, the age requirement for young workers is around 14 to 18, but the Kingdom chose 15 years old as the minimum before signing the agreement.
In accordance with this, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will commit with the minimum age at 15 years old.
