Germany Needs Doctors Who Can Speak German
Jan 31, 2014
After Pinoy nurses under POEA Triple Win Project were deployed, Germany is now looking for doctors who can speak German.
According to the research done by Berlin-based National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Germany is in need of 2,600 general practitioners and 2,000 specialists – 1,250 of whom are psychiatrists. This necessity in primary care is caused by retirement of doctors in Germany's eastern and western state where new ones weren't there to take place.
It is said, furthermore, that majority of the badly affected clinics are found in the city. And doctors shortage in rural areas might cause pharmacies and physiotherapists to shutter.
On the other hand, Doctor's union Marburger Bund advised that immigrant doctors need only to pass the European B2 certificate in language to be able work in Germany. However, Rhineland-Palatinate head Juergen Hoffart doubts that the B2 certificate may not guarantee the capacity of the foreign-born doctors to communicate with patients using medical terminology.
As of the moment, KBV accepts applications for physicians through their official website.
