Philhealth Members to Pay Higher Contribution
Jan 3, 2014
Voluntary, Self-Employed including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Philhealth members must expect a higher Philhealth contribution as Philhealth mandated the increase in member contribution effective January of this year.
As per Philhealth Circular No. 24 which was signed last year, Philhealth members whose salary falls at P25,000 and below must pay P2,400 annually; while those who earn more than P25,000 will still pay P3,600 as their annual Philhealth contribution.
In a succeeding Philhealth circular, Philhealth offers a flexible payment scheme for OFWs where they can pay for their contributions semi-annually, or P1,200 good for six months coverage from the date of the initial payment/membership. The remaining P1,200 must be paid before the Philhealth membeship expires, otherwise the member's and their dependents' health insurance coverage will be interrupted.
Individually paying members and their dependents shall be entitled to in-patient hospital care including all case rate packages and catastrophic illnesses in the Case Type Z Benefit Package, out-patient coverage and other special benefit packages under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).
OFW members are advised to call PhilHealth at (02) 441-7442 for more details.
