DFA Orders Mandatory Repatriation of OFWs in Egypt, Raised Alert to 4

The visit of Foreign Affairs Secretary, Albert Del Rosario in Cairo Egypt prompted him to raise the crisis alert level in Egypt to 4. It is his second visit in the span of two weeks to personally check the security situation in Egypt.
The alert level 4 calls for mandatory repatriation of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). It also imposed a total ban on the processing and deployment of all OFWs bound to Egypt.
The announcement from DFA said, “The marked deterioration of peace and order in Egypt, exacerbated by the ongoing political instability and grave security challenges in that country, make working and living there increasingly difficult and dangerous.”
