Taiwan's Ban on Filipino Workers Might Be Lifted Soon
Aug 6, 2013
The overseas recruitment sector is hoping that the recent report released by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regarding the death of a Taiwanese fisherman would restore the good diplomatic and economic relations of Taiwan and the Philippines. The NBI recommended homicide charges against eight members of the Philippine Coast Guard.
Emmanuel Geslani, a recruitment industry expert sees this as a “first step towards the restoration of full diplomatic, trade and economic relations between the Philippines and Taiwan.”
He is also hoping that this development would eventually lift the deployment ban imposed on Filipino workers.
Geslani said, “Justice will be served to the Taiwanese fisherman and our OFWs can now breathe a sigh of relief with the lifting of the sanctions hopefully soon.”
