PHL Officials to Filipinos In Yemen Amid Security Threats: Stay Safe

Philippine officials advised Filipinos in Yemen to take precautions and adopt safety measures in the light of the recent terrorism threats there.
Likewise, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh which holds consular jurisdiction of Yemen issued an advisory reminding Filipinos to avoid large crowds and places of unrest so as not to be a victim of possible attacks.
The advisory states, "In light of the reported security threats in Yemen, Filipinos in all regions of Yemen are advised to take extra precautions and be aware of their surroundings and to adopt appropriate personal safety and security measures."
The Embassy advisory further states that Pinoys in Yemen should follow the news and visit its website http://www.philembassy-riyadh.org regularly.
The need for proper documentation, valid residence and working permits and passports was also stressed.
It said, "In addition, Filipinos should ensure they have valid residence and working permits in Yemen to facilitate obtaining exit visas when required."
The government of Yemen said that it had uncovered an al Qaeda plot to get hold of two major oil and gas export terminals and a provincial capital in the east of the country.
Embassies of Western embassies in Yemen are currently in lock-down while some of their diplomatic personnel were withdrawn.
