PHL Opens New Office for OFWs in Taipei
Jun 17, 2013
There is one-stop place that Filipinos in Taiwan can go to should they need to take care of anything that would require a visit to PHL government offices.
The Labor Department reported that the Philippines has a new office in Taipei and it will house units of Philippine government offices.
Labor Secretary, Baldoz said that the new PHL labor office in Taiwan now houses DOLE, OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration), SSS (Social Security System) and Pag-IBIG Fund.
She said, "Our OFWs would now find a more pleasant and appropriate environment for transacting official business and availing of needed services."
Baldoz said the news about the new office was relayed to her by Labor Representative Reydeluz Conferido.
Labor Representative, Reydeluz Conferido reported this development to Baldoz. He said that as of the moment, the new office still needs to be improved. However, he added that the new office will strive to spend less and spending will be based on priorities.
Conferido said, "The move to the new office will lend respectability and dignity to our mission to protect our workers, hopefully in the eyes of the Taiwanese brokers and employers visiting our office."
