Are you a graduate of a TESDA-accredited training institution and is currently job-hunting? Then make sure you don’t miss a series of job fairs dubbed, “Hanapbuhay para sa TESDA Specialista’’ that is set to happen in different venues this March 2013. This career event that aims to help tech-voc graduates of TESDA get a job is the collaboration project between DOLE Regional Coordinating Council-National Capital Region, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and the PESO Association of Metro Manila (PAMM).
This is the first-ever job fair that will exclusively cater to more than 171,000 tech-voc graduates. It was happily announced by the Secretary of the Labor Department, Rosalinda Baldoz.
She said, "I am happy to announce that the DOLE's Regional Coordinating Council in the National Capital Region, TESDA, POEA and the PAMM have agreed to pool their resources and expertise in facilitating the employment of the tech-voc graduates of TESDA-accredited training institutions in the metropolis through a six-day series of job fairs."
According to the Regional Director of DOLE-NCR, Alan Macaraya, a focused-hiring approach will be used in the job fairs to make sure that it will result to higher placement rate and employment of the tech-voc graduates. A pre-registration will be held for the job fairs.
The series of job fairs will begin on March 11 at the Quezon City Covered walk. The activities for that day will be organized by the Quezon City PESO and DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office wherein they will invite employers that would match the skills profile of TESDA graduates who register in advance. They will also offer overseas jobs as the POEA would also invite licensed recruitment agencies.
These job fairs will target employers in industries that are considered principal employment generators such as business process outsourcing, health and wellness, construction, hotels and restaurants, tourism security services, hospital, and telecommunications.
"We will also tap companies registered under the Workers Hiring for Infrastructure Program (WHIP)," Macaraya said.
Aside from the employment opportunities, they would also provide other services such as job counseling and interview and resume-writing tips. There would be also be free TESDA services such as hair-cutting and massage.
Representatives from agencies such as NSO, SSS, PhilHealth, PagIbig, BIR, NBI and PNP would also be present so applicants can process pre-employment documents.
