Good news to Overseas Filipino Workers in UAE!
The Social Security System (SSS) has recently opened new office located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which will accommodate OFWs with their SSS membership, loans, and other concerns. The new SSS office in Dubai is the 7th branch of the institution in Middle East. Other SSS offices are located in in Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Kuwait, Doha, and Abu Dhabi.
Present in the launching of SSS at the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) are SSS president Emilio S. de Quiros and senior vice president Judy Frances A. See. They tackle the new offers and benefits that an SSS member gets.
De Quiros proudly announced new developments of SSS which includes My SSS (www.sss.gov.ph), where members can monitor their contributions and loans; Flexi Fund new SSS card (UMID) which also cover PAG-IBIG members.
He added that SSS currently offers a condonation program of up to 80 to 90 per cent against compounded penalties for failure of the recipients to pay the monthly amortization.
Moreover, See said that Filipino abroad and their families can also join SSS as voluntary members. Voluntary membership is P520.00 or AED45.00 to P1,560.00 or AED135.00.
She also explains Flexi-Fund that offers both pension and savings in one program.
“This Flexi-fund will enable members to earn more pension and savings plan rolled into one. Contribution will be not less than P200.00 or AED17.3500 with no deposit or maintaining balance, interest of one percent per annum is tax free starting this year and payment is anytime.”
See insists that SSS is better than private insurance as they cover is broader and according to what Filipino needs. SSS offers maternity and sickness allowance; partial and total disability benefits; death benefits; primary beneficiaries continue to receive 100 per cent pension for life as long as legally married and remains unmarried after death of the insured; no lapsing/continuing coverage even when members stop paying; retirement benefits; and is guaranteed by the Philippine government.
