Filipinos can now be deployed in Libya and in Northern Iraq (Iraqi Kurdistan Region) as the government lifts the deployment ban in the said countries. The lifting means that the government deemed the two countries to be safe for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

This development is expected to open more overseas job opportunities for Filipino workers. Reports from recruitment leaders say that thousands of job orders for hotel and medical workers are already waiting for OFWs in Northern Iraq and Libya.

They even say that representatives from Libya’s Ministry of Health are now in the Philippines to interview Filipino nurses and other medical workers.

Libya is set to immediately hire general, cardiac, abdominal and CCU surgeons; clinical care unit, midwife, ER and ICU nurses; radiologists, OB and other specialized doctors and nurses with at least two years experience, board license and in good health.

The chief of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Hans Cacdac expects that more than a million highly skilled Filipino workers would be deployed overseas this year.

He said, “We do not expect decline in deployment and we still see Middle East as our major market,” he said.
