According to LtJG Clinton Beaird, Public Affairs Officer of USS Blue Ridge, said to be the "finest flagship" of the United States, their best sailor on board is Senior Chief Petty Officer Ed Agustin, a Filipino.

Ed Agustin who is 47 years old is one of the 76 Filipinos that are working for USS Blue Ridge. He was recruited from Subic Bay ad his job is to ensure the ship's maintenance.

The said ship is considered the finest in US because it is the most technologically advanced ship of the US Navy and the permanent flagship of the navy's Seventh Fleet. The Blue Ridge has nearly 1,000 crew members and 12 percent of this number is Filipinos

In an interview, GMA News Online asked Agustin why he was considered as the best sailor in USS Blue Ridge and he said, "Dito sa military, nag-eexcel ang mga Pilipino. Kasi karamihan ang mga nagjo-join sa Navy sa US bata pa, 17 or 18 years old. Tayo, nagjo-join mga 24 years old  na, mature na, mas dedicated na sa trabaho."

Agustin’s family lives in Balagtas, Bulacan, and he studied at the University of the East. He said he looks forward to go back to the Philippines since his last vacation was two or three years ago.

Agustin also said that one of the perks for working in the US Navy is that one can retire after 20 years. He said, "Yung retirement is guaranteed. After 20 years makakapag-retire na ako. Wala kang makikitang trabaho na after 20 years pwede ka nang mag-retire. Pwede kang umuwi ng Pilipinas."
