According to Vice President, Jejomar Binay, a team of German diplomats and businessmen informed him that Germany is a viable work destination for Filipino scientists and engineers today. This is because the European country is experiencing a shortage of engineers and computer scientists and wants to hire Filipino experts.
The Vice President said, "This is an excellent opportunity to address many issues at once besides helping Germany, a long-time friend of the Philippines, fill the need for experts in their emerging and middle industries, we are also able to provide gainful employment to qualified Filipinos."
Binay also stressed that in general, Germany protects the interest of migrant workers.
The team from Germany is hoping that the two countries (Philippines and Germany) would soon resolve the current unresolved issues involving Fraport-NAIA as this would mean more investments from German companies.
Binay said,"It is worth noting that despite the Fraport issue, the relations between both our countries has never wavered. Nevertheless, I do hope that we will be able to settle this issue justly and immediately."
