Lower Terminal Fee for Departing International Passengers
Jan 12, 2012
Effective February 1, departing international passengers would only pay Php550 instead of Php750 for the terminal fee. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced that they will rollback the current terminal fee to the original rate of Php550 because the previous increase was only valid for five years.
The General Manager of MIAA, Jose Angel Honrado said, “The MIAA started imposing the additional P200 to the original P550 terminal fee on Feb. 1, 2007, to fund the acquisition of state-of-the-art security equipment at the airport terminals.”
“That five-year term will lapse on January 31 this year, so by February 1, the terminal fee for passengers on international flights will go back to its original rate,” he added.
Meanwhile, the terminal fee for domestic passengers would remain at Php200 because only the fee for international passengers increased in 2007.
He said, “We will use the fund for the acquisition of sophisticated equipment, including new surveillance cameras, X-ray machines, body scanners, shoe detector machines, explosive detection system, among others,”
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), athletes, foreign diplomats, transit passengers, refugees, pilgrims, airline cabin crews and deportees are exmepted from paying terminal fees.
