Proposed Direct Recruitment System for Taiwan Okay With POEA
Jan 5, 2012
The government of Taiwan is expected to implement the International Direct e-Recruitment System (IDeS), a new hiring policy for foreign workers this January and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) expressed its support to the planned implementation. The IDES was developed by the Council of Labor Affairs of Taiwan
The proposed online recruitment system for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who wants to work in Taiwan needs a final approval from the POEA Governing Board. Former POEA Chief, Carlos Cao Jr. said that the new system would make deployment of OFWs to Taiwan easier as the services of brokers would no longer be necessary.
Cao said, “The system will be a great relief for the workers since they will no longer pay brokers fee and monthly services over a period of three (3) years, thus, will redound to significant reduction of recruitment costs to them, including the employers.”
Though the IDeS would still require the workers to shoulder documentation and visa fees, they no longer need to worry about broker’s fees.
Under the new hiring system (IDeS), there will be an online portal where valid employers can access the resumes of applicants. The system is designed to match foreign workers to a job position that fits their qualifications and work experiences. It is reported that Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia will also implement the IDeS soon.
