Licensed overseas recruitment agencies are allowed by the Philippine law to collect a placement fee from hired applicants. However, not all Filipinos who leave the Philippines to work abroad pay placement fee. Some POEA-licensed agencies are able to find an employer/principal who is willing to shoulder the amount of placement fee for the applicants. There are also foreign countries that prohibit the charging of placement fees.
