Insurance Coverage for Agency-Hired OFWs Now Mandatory

Effective November 8, 2010, all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that will be hired through the help of a recruitment agency are now required to have an insurance coverage.
In compliance with the requirements prescribed by Republic Act No. 10022, the compulsory insurance coverage for OFWs is an addition to the list of requirements that must be met before a worker can be issued a POEA Exit Clearance/Overseas Employment Certificate. The cost of the insurance policy will be shouldered by licensed recruitment agencies.
Listed below are the accredited insurance providers by the lnsurance Commission:
- Paramount Life and General Insurance Corporation
- Philippine Charter Insurance Corporation
- United Coconut Planters' Life Assurance Corporation
