Latest OFW Advisories: Avoid Travel To Jordan, Aqaba and Beware of Fictitious Hospital in Israel

  Sep 17, 2010

Hospitals in Israel Has No Job Offer For Filipino Healthcare Workers

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued a warning against illegal recruiters that are offering jobs for a hospital in Israel. According to the DFA, there are no hospitals in Israel that have job openings for Filipino medical workers such as nurses, doctors, ambulance crews, drivers, etc.

To trick job applicants, illegal recruiters promise employment in a supposed hospital in Israel, the Jordan Valley Medical Center. However upon checking, authorities discovered that the hospital mentioned is non-existent in Israel. The Philippine officials in Israel released the warning when they received inquiries from applicants that are verifying job orders for the said hospital.

The DFA advisory cited the report from the Philippine Embassy in Israel and it said, "This announcement is being issued in response to reports and queries from prospective applicants verifying job opportunities offered to them by certain unscrupulous recruiters to work in various capacities for a 'Jordan Valley Medical Center in Israel."

According to the DFA, “The Embassy confirmed that the "Jordan Valley Medical Center" is "fictitious and no such hospital exists in Israel.

The advisory also reminded applicants that although there are job opportunities for caregivers in Israel, the workplace is home care and not in a hospital.

Philippine Embassy in Jordan Warned OFWs against Travel To Jordan

The Philippine Embassy in Jordan called on all Filipinos who have plans to go to the city of Aqaba in Jordan to postpone all personal and unnecessary travels for now. This is to protect them from possible damage that may result due to reports that the area will be attack by terrorists.

The advisory was published in the website of DFA and it was deemed necessary after embassies of other countries in Jordan including Japan and US embassy issued similar advisories.

The Embassy published its mobile number (+962 77 743 5435) for inquiries or other information.
