How to Authenticate your Documents
Oct 12, 2010
There are companies that require overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to have their documents authenticated while some are not. Authentication of document is done according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to attest the genuineness of the signatory in the document and not the document itself and give credence to the official acts of the notary public or certifying officer thereon for use, if and when required, as instrument of evidence in foreign countries.
A discussion from OFWGuide Forum, red ribbon?authentication, will be of great help on how to get your documents authenticated.
How to authenticate the following documents:
- Diploma and high school form 137

The forum school Credentials such as diploma and high school form 137, needs a certified true copy from the school with Commision on High Education (CHED) authentication for college level and graduate and/or with Department of Education (DepEd) for secondary level.
It is also written in the forum that CHED, or even DepEd, is no longer entertaining individual application for authentication. Your school should be the one to coordinate this. So when you get it in your school, it should have been stamped by CHED OR DECS. This is to prevent any falsification or submission of fake school credentials.
The Public is advised that, all unclaimed DFA Authentication Certificates will be disposed of three (3) months from the scheduled date of release.
