Good news for OFWs!
As part of the campaign to reach out to Filipino workers in the Philippines and abroad, the Social Security System or SSS will be launching their newly created OFW Contact Center Unit (OFW-CSU) this October.
The OFW-CSU aims to help an estimated one million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have easier access to the benefits and programs of SSS. It will handle direct points for OFWs to allow more differentiated servicing and faster resolution of their SSS concerns, according to SSS Senior Vice President and International Operations Division Head Judy Frances A. See.
See added that the creation of a specialized contact unit for OFWs will enable them identify the OFWs distinct need and address them accordingly. She also said that the OFW-CSU will help SSS manage effectively the level of transactions for other member service facilities.
For OFW-CSU's initial operation, it will provide dedicated email support and local call services from 6 am to 10 pm during weekdays.
SSS will also provide a special assistance desk at the main office in Diliman, Quezon City. This will handle walk-in transactions for OFWs, such as registration and issuance of SSS numbers, enrolment in Flexi-fund Program and verification of their SSS records. Assistance in filing of loans, benefit claims and other SSS applications of OFWs will also be entertained.
See also said that SSS will open international toll-free numbers so OFWs across the globe can call them without having charges on their end. And that the OFW-CSU's operating hours will be extended to 24/7 once the required systems are in place.
Other services will be introduced soon including Online Contact points that utilize VoIP and instant messaging platforms.
See stated that OFW-CSU is still part of their campaign to ensure the continuing coverage of Filipino workers in the Philippines and abroad under SSS. “We want not only to increase the SSS membership of OFWs but also to ensure active membership.”
OFWs and their families in the Philippines can reach the OFW-CSU by email at ofw.relations@sss.gov.ph or through their service hotlines, (02) 364-7796 and (02) 374-7798.
