OWWA Scholarship Grants and Educational Programs

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) offers scholarship grants and educational programs to assist dependents of their Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) members. OWWA offers six (6) scholarships grants and educational programs for OFW dependents and there are others which are still under evaluation prior to implementation.
College Degree Scholarship Grants
Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)
EDSP is a grant offered to qualified dependents/beneficiaries of OFWs-OWWA members who plan to pursue a four to five year-baccalaureate degree. Financial assistance is given to the dependent, which amounts to Php60,000 per school year.
OFW Dependents Scholarship Program (OFWDSP)
OFWDSP is an educational assistance for dependents of qualified OFWs who wants to pursue a four-five year baccaulaureate or associate degree. This grant is available to one dependent of an OWWA-member OFW whose salary is US$400.00 below.
Education and Livelihood Assistance Program (ELAP)
ELAP is divided into two components: scholarship for survivors of the deceased OFW and livelihood assistance for the surviving spouse.
Short-Term Training Skills Program
Seafarer's Upgrading Program (SUP)
SUP aims to enhance Filipino seafarer's expertise and familiarity of the maritime industry. So, to be able to do such, OWWA offers active OFW/Seaman members a financial assistance (inclusive of meal and transpo) to enable seaman members attend maritime trainings relevant to the skills needed in the global maritime market.
Skills-for-Employment Scholarship Program
A qualified applicant may avail of Technical – vocational course being offered under the SESP, following the regular school year calendar, offered to landlbased or seabased OFWd or their beneficiaries/dependents. Upon receipt of the scholarship voucherm the grantee may enroll in any TESDA/DOST/MTC –registered program and other government institutions. Program choices shall be supportive of the land and sea based skills requirement.
OWWA-Microsoft Tulay (Bridge) Program
This program is a joint undertaking of OWWA with Microsoft Corporation providing OFWs and their families free information and communication technology (ICT) skills training, the purpose of which is to bridge the communication gap through the use of internet between the OFW and his/her family.
