Myanmar, Philippines Reached Visa-free Entry Agreement
Dec 5, 2013
Myanmar and the Philippines have concurred to sign a deal that will allow visiting Filipinos to enter Myanmar without a visa.
Visiting citizens of Myanmar are already allowed to enter the Philippines visa-free.
In this case, Myanmar will just be the latest addition to the 25 countries that Filipinos can enter without visa as a requirement.
In lieu of Myanmar President Thein Sein's two-day state visit to the country, the said agreement that will let Filipinos enter Myanmar visa-free is just one of the matters that would be addressed upon President Sein's arrival in the Malacanang Palace. Concerns about trade and investment, agriculture, energy, cultural exchanges, information cooperation, and Myanmar's chairmanship in the ASEAN in 2014 among others will also be discussed.
Myanmar President Sein is said to be planning to visit Cebu to "explore agricultural business opportunities" and head to typhoon Yolanda-hit areas prior to his departure from the country on December 6.
